Technology is making their jobs easier, and harder.Īutomation means fewer people are required to run ships and do menial tasks. Troops putting on the uniform today continue to earn free college tuition, free health care, free housing and retirement after 20 years of honorable service. In the Navy and Marine Corps, recruitment and retention in the ranks stay at historic highs, possibly because of the improving but still-shaky outlook in the private sector.
